Dressi – Fashion that’s classy and pretty

Oct 10, 2017

With the school’s just back for the new academic year, the increasingly popular prom or graduation ball may appear a long way off, but for one north east entrepreneur, now is the perfect time to start a new fashion business to supply the ever-increasing demand for stylish, affordable women’s occasion wear.

Julie Blackie, Financial Director of the award winning multi-million-pound fashion retailer Pink Boutique, has launched a new online store www.dressi.co.uk and she is confident that the same building blocks for success experienced by Pink Boutique can be applied to Dressi.

Pink Boutique was founded by Julie’s daughter, Alice Hall who started the online fashion business in 2012 with a £90 investment and now achieves annual sales of around £15 million. The company posts more than 2,000 garments a day from their Newcastle warehouse and has had an annual sales growth of 141% over the last three years.

The new online store is designed to meet the need for affordable, glamorous and feminine clothing for special occasions particularly proms, weddings and parties.

“The website gives the customer a personal choice about the size, colour, style and price of the clothing. Once a dress is chosen, the customer can then find matching handbags and shoes as well as a range of other accessories,” said Julie.

“Our clothing will make girls look fabulous without breaking the bank and being online takes the worry out of finding something to wear for that special occasion as you can visualise the product before you buy. For those in a hurry we have next day delivery too.”

Dressi’s manager, Rio Beadie graduated from Sunderland University in fashion marketing, she’s a journalist and stylist and has worked on some of the region’s bridal and lifestyle magazines.

“Working with the Dressi team is a dream come true. The wide range of dresses available and the expertise within the business is amazing. I want our customers to enjoy the browsing experience online and make the right decision about their dress for that special occasion.

“Proms and graduation balls are getting more popular every year and as a result it’s sometimes difficult to find a special, unique dress that no one else has. We’ve an extensive online stock with variations in colour, style and size that should make finding the right look very easy and stress free.

“With wedding dresses and bridesmaids wear becoming more fashionable than ever before with intricate designs and bolder looks, we’re also stocking dresses that don’t cost a fortune but look fantastic. We’re making wedding wear more affordable than ever and we’re delighted to be able to help make the bride’s day even more special by making them look amazing.”

As the online business grows, Julie is looking to open a shop alongside the website so that customers can physically browse too. It’s hoped that the Dressi store will open before Christmas to help the north east’s party girls look a million dollars in time for the festivities.
