Action! Inspired HR are Cast by North East Screen

Jul 9, 2022

A north east HR company that started life as a solo micro business with a cast of just one has taken on as one of its clients, a major player in the region’s TV and film industry.

Blyth based Inspired HR has added North East Screen to its impressive list of clients to help them manage a period of exponential organisational growth. The north east of England’s screen agency develops and champions the region as one of the UK’s leading film and TV production hubs where exceptional screen industry talent can live, create, and work.

Now celebrating its fifth anniversary, Inspired HR was set up in 2017 by Nikki Masterman as a home-based business and quickly developed into four business arms – employment legal services, HR consultancy, health and wellbeing and a recruitment agency. Now with nine staff and offices on Blyth Quayside, Nikki’s client sectors include a variety of sectors including healthcare, charities, financial services, hospitality, retail, manufacturing, and creative agencies. The business has grown 70% year on year for three years running and become well known nationally.  They have also recently extended their services abroad for the recruitment sector in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.

Nikki’s dramatic growth and her high level of professional standards and service delivery caught the attention of the HR Independents (HRi) which is the UK governing body for independent HR and people professionals.

Nikki is one of a small number of independent HR companies accredited at the highest level with the HRi, which was the result of an accreditation process to prove the firm’s professionalism, integrity, standards, and expertise. As well as being highly accredited, Nikki has now also been appointed as a director of HRi because of her commercial acumen, HR history, and her own business success.

“The HRi represent, independent HR professionals and we function as a benchmark for standards and professionalism as well as supporting those wanting to launch and grow their own HR consultancy business. Independent HR professionals are not currently regulated by law, but those that strive to achieve high standards are still more likely to succeed and win new business,” she said.

One such new client is North East Screen, and it is a relationship that really excites Nikki.

“The north east is a vibrant hub for the TV and film industry and it’s great to be a small part of that. I think that it’s particularly important when a firm is looking at who is going to look after their HR that they choose the right people based on their experience, knowledge and integrity and I’m delighted that North East Screen have cast us into that role.”

Chief Executive of North East Screen, Alison Gwynn decided to partner with Inspired HR thanks to their reputation for providing professional advice and support and the fact that the business was based in the region.

“Our organisation is rapidly expanding, and we needed support to help us with our current recruitment and our ongoing HR needs. Our increasing staffing levels and workload with incoming productions, regional industry professionals, , production companies and artist filmmakers has resulted in a need for specialist HR advice and Nikki’s impressive track record won her and her team the  role.”
