A GP has been awarded a “Healthwatch Star” reflecting the care and attention given to her patients.
The Star certificate was presented to Dr Helen Davies of the Fenham Hall Medical Group by Healthwatch Newcastle, which champions the rights of users of publicly-funded health and social care services in the city. The Star scheme enables patients to nominate members of the caring professions who they feel have went above and beyond in their care. The scheme is totally anonymous and the recipient receives a certificate to display at their place of work.
Dr Davies has been with the practice for three years and was delighted to receive the award.
“We don’t do our work in isolation so this award is also in recognition of the whole team here. I am very proud to accept it on behalf of the practice and thank sincerely the person who nominated me.”
Steph Eduesi, Chief Executive of Healthwatch Newcastle, said:
“This isn’t the first award for this medical practice.Fenham Hall Medical Group has had an amazing seven previous awards in recognition of outstanding care for its patients. Theyhave adopted a number of initiatives that have made a real difference to the care they provide for so many people.”
The new initiatives include an improved same day appointment service and employing an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and pharmacist who are able to treat patients in certain circumstances without the need to see a doctor.
