Businesses With Their Pulse on Local Needs Nominated for Heart of The Community Award

Feb 1, 2022

Three North Tyneside businesses have been recognised for their work which has had a major positive effect on their local community.

The Heart of the Community award, part of the annual North Tyneside Business Forum Awards, encourages North Tyneside residents to say ‘thank you’ to a business which has made a significant contribution to their local area. The three nominees were shortlisted after the Forum’s management group sifted through dozens of worthy contenders in December.

The three firms have all been nominated by the public after going the extra mile to serve their customers and the community. The businesses, H&S Convenience Store in Hadrian Park, Wallsend, MBS Gardens in Backworth and Jillys Homebake at the Rose Inn Wallsend will find out if they have won the prestigious Heart of the Community Award at the North Tyneside Business Forum Annual Awards Ceremony on February 9th.

The three have really thought outside of the box to help the community during lockdown, amongst other things Jillys Homebake provided free food to local families, MBS Gardens arranged PPE deliveries and built planters to help veterans while H&S Convenience Store delivered food parcels free of charge to those in need.

Chair of the Business Forum Karen Goldfinch said:

“This award is always hard to narrow down to three from the many amazing businesses in our area that have done so much for the community.  These three businesses have gone the extra mile to make sure that their customers and their local community have been looked after. The public have nominated them, and they will also pick the winner through voting on the Forum’s website. Voting will remain open until 6pm on 9th February and I wish them all the very best of luck, plus I look forward to welcoming them on the night.”
