Hooked on Helping: Chippy Nets £17,653 for Cancer Support
One of Northumberland’s best-known fish and chip restaurants has earned another reason to celebrate after raising more than £17,000 to support people living with cancer.
Staff and customers at the Harbour View Fish and Chip Restaurant and Takeaway in Seaton Sluice have been fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support, with their generosity helping the charity continue its vital work supporting people affected by cancer.
Manager Sharron Carr has announced that an impressive £17,653 has now been donated to the charity.
The fundraising total is the result of the combined efforts of staff and loyal customers, who have supported a range of fundraising activities while visiting one of the area’s most popular eateries.
Sharron said: “We know that one out of every two people will be affected by cancer during their lifetime, which means that many of our customers, friends and families will face the disease at some stage.
“We wanted to do something that could make a real difference to people going through what is often the toughest time of their lives. The amount we have collectively raised will go some way towards helping those in need.
“I’d like to thank our wonderful staff for all the enthusiasm they have shown and, of course, our fantastic customers whose generosity has made this possible. Every donation, no matter how small, has helped us reach this amazing total.”
Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, emotional, physical and financial support for people living with cancer and their families. The charity also works to ensure that no one has to face a cancer diagnosis alone, offering advice and guidance throughout treatment and beyond.
The Harbour View has built an outstanding reputation for the quality of its award-winning fish and chips, but its latest achievement has shown that it is equally committed to supporting the local community and worthwhile causes.
The £17,653 donation will help Macmillan continue providing essential services to thousands of people across the UK who are living with cancer, ensuring they receive the care and support they need when they need it most.
