Two kind hearted publicans who organised a three day Bank Holiday music festival for a young girl suffering from a life threatening illness has cancelled the event to ensure that sufficient funds will be available to help the youngster.
Micheal Jeffles and partner Jilly Grainge from the Rose Inn, Howdon, decided to cancel at considerable personal expense a number of renowned acts as they realised that all of the money from ticket sales would go on paying the artists and technical equipment required for such a large event.
Instead, they have reshuffled and will be hosting a one day event on Bank Holiday Monday where every act has donated their time free of charge.
The “Concert for Hope” will be in aid of North Shields youngster, Hope Feeney. The five year old has stage four Neuroblastoma, the same awful illness that recently claimed the life of Bradley Lowery.
The concert will feature local artsists and will be headlined by Wallsend singer Junior Turner. Others on the bill are Jaxta, Johnny Walker, Adele Marie , Katie McDonald and Steve Black.
Festival organiser Michael said,
“It was clear from the ongoing costs and the vast amount of technical equipment needed that there would be very little funds to pass to Hope and her family. By doing the one day concert we are hoping to make a real difference to her.”
Tickets are £5.00 with the show running from 1pm until 7pm on Monday 28th August. All ticket money will go to A Journey of Hope’s fund along with collections on the day too. LIMITED to 120 tickets ONLY
