An award-winning fish and chip restaurant has received a huge thank you from a leading cancer charity for its fundraising efforts.
Staff and customers at the Harbour View Fish and Chip Restaurant and Takeaway in Seaton Sluice have been collecting money to help in the battle against the disease and now Macmillan Cancer Support have thanked them for their generosity.
Manager Waseem Mir has proudly announced that more than £14,900 has been donated to the charity to help in the fight against the disease.
A number of fund-raising initiatives have taken place including special donate a meal nights, and donations for every tea coffee or hot chocolate bought as well as generous contributions from the public in the takeaway’s collection boxes.
“We know that one out of every two people are affected by cancer which means that at some stage in their lives half of our customers will get the disease. The £14,900 that we have collectively raised well go some way to helping those in need. I’d like to thank my staff and our customers for the lifesaving fundraising they have done.”
Macmillan Cancer Support help those diagnosed with the illness through their treatment and beyond by offering emotional, physical and financial support.
