The region’ newest music festival will take place this coming Bank Holiday with an entire weekend of musical stars, traditional food and a massive outpouring of hope.
The Rose Inn at Howdon, Wallsend will host the “Concert for Hope” in aid of North Shields youngster, Hope Feeney. The five year old has stage four Neuroblastoma, the same awful illness that recently claimed the life of Bradley Lowery.
The festival, to be held from August 26th to 28th. will feature a diverse range of both original artists and tribute acts including The Four Tops, an Abba tribute band and talented singer songwriter Kyla as Pink. A donation from each ticket sale and a collection on each of the three days will go towards Hope’s fund.
The three day event will be held in the grounds of the pub with special VIP access tickets also availableincluding an indoor buffet and a chance to meet the artists. The owners of the Rose Inn, Michael Jeffles and Jilly Grainge, have taken the once derelict shell and transformed it into the place to go for food in Wallsend.
While this is the first time that Michael and Jilly have owned and operated a pub, this is not their first endeavour in the food industry having previously run a successful bakery.
On Saturday, there will be performances from 60’s four piece William Hick and the Four Tops, and Tameka as Diana Ross performing worldwide hits such as I’m Coming Out, Chain Reaction and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
Sunday will feature Planet Abba, and tribute acts for Steps and Little Mix playing hits ranging from Abba’s Dancing Queen to recent chart toppers from the X-Factor winning foursome.
Finally, in store for Monday, is music from Wallsend native Junior Turner, Ska Toons, the Ed Sheeran Experience, and Kyla as Pink.
All of the acts will be performing on a large stage especially erected in the pub’s grounds.
For the little ones during the festival, there will be a giant, realistic animatronic T-Rex with baby dinosaurs on the Saturday complete with a dinosaur egg. On the Monday, the festival will host an appearance from Peppa Pig. An added bonus is that for every paying adult, a child goes free.
Festival organiser Michael said,
“I’m really looking forward to this festival, I think it’s going to be a real high-point of this year for Wallsend. This will be a premiere music festival for the bank holiday, it will be compact but bursting with quality. This really will be fun for all ages and it’s also going to make a real difference to Hope and her family.”
Ticket prices start at £20 per adult, with early-bird VIP tickets available for £35 per day which includes access to a VIP lounge and buffet. 3-day specials are also available.
