Some of the region’s most entertaining musical acts have been lined up for this year’s Northumberland Live Festival at Blyth with more to be announced – including the headliners.
Last year, the The Undertones played their first ever visit to Blyth and wowed the crowd with their repitoire of power pop songs. Previously, Scouting For Girls attracted a 15,000 strong crowd and this year’s headliners are expected to do the same.
Due to contractual agreements, the name of the headlining band won’t be released until the end of February but the organisers have already secured three bands from the region who are guaranteed to entertain the crowds on Saturday 23rd June.

STAN the band have recently had their talents recognised nationally after winning a national competition at the Great British Rock and Blues Festival.
STAN comprises accomplished musicians Colin Burrows (vocalist / guitar), bass player Rob Tickell, ex 21 Strangers guitarist Dave Kennedy (previously managed by the late Chas Chandler of The Animals) and drummer Dave Pipkin.
Dave said, “We’re delighted to play Northumberland Live at Blyth again we played at the first one five years ago and look forward to bringing our brand of rock and roll to the festival.”

Another North East established act confirmed to play are rock and roll stalwarts, The Baldy Holly Band. Bringing a taste of the 1950’s to Blyth, the band, led by singer Jamie Bell will be covering the great rock and roll standards including songs by Elvis Presley, Ritchie Vallance and of course Buddy Holly.

Barnard Castle band Edenthorn complete the line up of bands announced so far. Formed in 2013 and made up of two sets of siblings, they have created their own unique rock sound. The band consist of brother and sister Dylan Gardner (Guitar) and Faiba Gabrielle (Bass/Vocals) with brothers Kyle (Lead Vocals) and Mark Tague ( Drums)
Once again, Blyth Town Council will sponsor the Northumberland Live Festival at Blyth and
Chair of the Town Council Events Committee, Councillor Kath Nisbet, belives that this year’s free festival will be the biggest and best yet.
“We’ve proven in recent years that we can attract big names to Blyth. This year is no exception and the calibre of the support bands we’ve announced will indicate just how special the headlining band is. Once again, Northumberland Live at Blyth is guaranteed to be a great free family fun day out. We will have more news about the headline band at the end of February.”
Having built up a deserved reputation as a great, free family day out, there will be something for everyone at the festival with superb street theatre, a fun fair, wonderful food concessions and of course, great music.
