Amble based Michele Marie Liddle is launching a crowdfunding campaign to create the Northumberland Haunted Museum in the seaside town. The project is designed to be very different from traditional haunted attractions, focusing on folklore, culture and local history rather than jump scares or shock tactics.
The museum will operate as a Community Interest Company and is intended to be a welcoming community space, offering workshops, events, talks and storytelling opportunities. Exhibits will explore historic legends, local paranormal accounts and cultural references from across Northumberland, alongside contributions from residents.
The planned space will feature a communal downstairs area for exhibitions and conversation, encouraging people to gather, share stories and connect. An upstairs exhibition area will explore the more unsettling side of the paranormal, including haunted and curious objects, while remaining respectful and educational in its approach.
Paranormal investigations will form part of the museum’s activities, focusing on authenticity and learning rather than theatrical scares. Michele is currently searching for a suitable historic or underused building in Northumberland to house the museum.
The crowdfunding campaign allows the public to play an active role in shaping the project. Supporter rewards include name recognition within the museum, access to events and paranormal investigations, and other exclusive experiences. Even those unable to donate are encouraged to support the project by sharing the campaign.
Michele has had a lifelong connection to the paranormal and, following personal loss in 2021, reconnected with this work after moving to Amble. Since then, she has built strong ties within the local paranormal community and across Northumberland. The museum represents the next stage of that journey, with the aim of becoming a lasting cultural asset for Amble and the wider region.
