North Tyneside Business Forum has partnered with North Tyneside VODA to support those North Tyneside-based businesses which are operating and providing essential services across the borough.
The new web-based service has been launched to help those affected by Coronavirus – and is aimed at helping those most in need. The service is part of North Tyneside Council’s plan to shield its most vulnerable residents who are living in their home without support from others, by providing non-clinical help.
Chair of North Tyneside Business Forum, Karen Goldfinch said: “During the current Coronavirus situation it’s vitally important that people know how to access food deliveries to their homes and to know which businesses are still operating.
“We’re working hard to co-ordinate all of the businesses which are offering essential food services, whether that be delivery, takeaways or collections. We’ve even heard of some pubs, restaurants, cafes etc making meals to be frozen so it’s not just the delivery of fresh food and vegetables that we are looking for. We will be sharing links across all of our social media channels, in local groups and community pages to help support the effort in North Tyneside to help those who are most vulnerable.
“It’s great to be able to support our small local businesses which are delivering an excellent, fast, personal service under very difficult circumstances.”
Keith Hardy from North Tyneside VODA welcomed the new initiative:
“This is a unique service which offers help to both the businesses that supply food and to those people who struggle to get to the shops for their essentials. It’s a great example of community partnership and I’d urge as many people as possible to use it.”
