“Strange Tales for a Winter’s Night”
We all love a good ghost story especially one well narrated by a story telling master and next Friday, Northumberland Theatre Company will dim the lights at the Dovecote Centre in Amble and the strange tales will begin….
Actor and Playwright Stewart Howson, has been keeping modern audiences on the edge of their seats for some years with his mixture of Victorian and modern ghost stories.
Stewart has been a professional actor for over forty years and a respected playwright for nearly that long too. As well as being a favourite with NTC audiences for his performances in such productions as “The Stars Look Down”, “Dracula…. The Travesty” “Johnny Armstrong”, “Rallying Round” and the Amble Panto, Stewart has appeared in London’s West End and many TV programmes including Coronation Street Emmerdale and Heartbeat.
Strange Tales will begin with a famous traditional Victorian ghost story: “The Signalman” by Charles Dickens and after the interval, in a lighter mood, Stewart will tell one of his “Shaggie Ghost stories” from his series “Extraordinary Tales of an Ordinary Family” .
It’s worth mentioning to anyone that’s not a fan of horror stories that neither is Stewart, so no gore, no Zombies and nothing too macabre just the enjoyment of the imagination being captured by a spooky story told by a seasoned story-teller!.”
