From the Tyne Bridge to Sydney Harbour Bridge as Pauline Penetrates Australia

Oct 23, 2014

From the Tyne Bridge to The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Newcastle based punk princess; Pauline Murray is about to embark on a tour Down Under.

The singer and her original punk band, Penetration who formed in 1976 in County Durham were amongst the forefront of the punk movement playing regularly with bands such as The Buzzcocks, The Stranglers and Stiff Little Fingers. After two successful albums, the band split up and eventually reformed again in 2001 and still plays to sell out audiences all over the UK and Europe.

Now Pauline and bass player husband Rob are about to embark on their maiden voyage Down Under for a four-date run of shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

The tour coincides with the much-awaited rerelease of the 1980’s legendary Pauline Murray And The Invisible Girls CD. That album, featuring members of the Buzzcocks and The Durutti Column, as well as performance and production work from iconic post-punk identity Martin Hannett, went on to be recognised as a new-wave classic, yielding several singles including Mr X, Searching For Heaven and Dream Sequence.

Pauline is looking forward to her tour in Australia and hopes it will pave the way for a full band tour with Penetration.

“The tour has been arranged by two promoters in Australia who desperately wanted us to perform there. We are looking forward to it and if it is successful we’d like to take the full band there in 2015.

“It’s going to be very busy as we have the gigs to do plus a number of high profile TV and radio appearances too. It’s a challenge but a tremendous opportunity too.”
