Fundraising by staff and customers at the award-winning Harbour View Fish and Chip Restaurant and Takeaway in Seaton Sluice has reached a major milestone despite COVID.
Manager Waseem Mir has proudly announced that more than £10,700 has been donated to MacMillan Cancer Support to help in the fight against the disease.
A number of fund-raising initiatives have taken place including special donate a meal nights and donations for every tea coffee or hot chocolate bought as well as generous contributions from the public in the takeaway’s collection boxes.
Fundraising for MacMillan is close to Mr Mir’s heart following the passing of his grandmother earlier this year after a five-year fight with cancer.
“The £10,700 that we have collectively raised is a fitting legacy for my grandmother and anyone else that has lost a loved one through cancer. We are all fighting a different battle now with COVID-19 but people with cancer and other diseases still need our help. I’d like to thank my staff and our customers for the lifesaving fundraising they have done.”
Macmillan Cancer Support help those diagnosed with the illness through their treatment and beyond by offering emotional, physical and financial support.
