In praise of our Armed Forces

Oct 26, 2009

It’s coming up to November 11th when we remember those brave souls who have served their country fighting abroad during world wars and the more recent conflicts.
A recent interview I did with a client really made me think about the type of people who are now risking their lives to protect what is good and decent in this mad world.
At just 24 years of age Emma Williams from Cramlington in Northumberland has set up a new concept in event management – www.justbooked.co.uk launches today and will take the stress out of organising events like Christmas parties and charity events.
However, what struck me about Emma was the fact that she is a member of the Territorial Army and has served all over the world including Iraq.
Her people skills and organisational skills have been finely tuned thanks to her experiences in operational theatres all over the globe and it really made me think about everyone else who is serving their country.
So next time you pass a young lad in a hoody top or a pretty girl in high heels – think twice –

this person may have served this country in a way you or I can’t start to imagine.
