Kinks song-writing student plays The Old Low Light

Talented singer-songwriter who was coached by Ray Davies of The Kinks is to perform on Tyneside.
Robert Lane is a singer songwriter based in Birmingham. In July 2017, he released his latest single Right by My Side which made its way into the iTunes singer songwriter chart. His most recent EP/Mini Album Ends and Starts was released via Fish Records and launched with a performance at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. The lead track, My Love’s in Deep, has been featured on several radio stations and received a tweet of recommendation from Telegraph Music.

In June 2017 Robert went on a joint headline tour with Nashville based singer songwriter Kyshona Armstrong he was also chosen by the LG Arena to perform in the Forum Live area before concerts by Eric Clapton, Dire Straits front man Mark Knopfler, Ellie Goulding and international superstar singer/songwriter John Mayer. In July 2015, he performed before a concert by Fleetwood Mac.

One of his musical highlights was when, in August 2013, he was selected to attend a song writing retreat/course with Kinks front man Ray Davies.

Davies was impressed with his ability and said;
“Robert Lane attended my song writing course and responded well to the composition and exercises given. As the course became more intensive his progress was excellent throughout. I am pleased to recommend Robert to continue his music and develop his writing so that he can reach his full potential.”
