Nursery gives Meadow Well kids best start

Sep 7, 2017

A new community child care facility opened its doors this week in the heart of North Shields’ Meadow Well Estate.
The Cedarwood Trust opened its new Nursery on the 4th September within its recently opened Community Centre on Avon Avenue, North Shields.

Building on its work on the Meadow Well Estate for almost 40 years, the Trust aims to provide a firm foundation for the children of the Estate developing skills and ensuring the best start in life for the youngest members of the close-knit community. The Nursery will add to the existing range of services for parents and children already offered and will provide a free, safe, secure and fun learning environment for children aged between two and four. The Nursery will be open Monday to Friday with morning and afternoon sessions.

The new facility is managed by a highly-experienced team of Nursery specialists who are skilled in child development, ensuring that the children have the best start in life.

Helen Lydall, a Manager at the Nursery said “We’re very excited to open our brand-new Nursery which is based in the Community Centre, providing a much-needed service to meet the needs of local families.”
Phil McGrath, Chief Executive of the Cedarwood Trust outlined their commitment to provide a quality service to residents of North Shields saying, “Our focus has always been on the development of individuals of all ages, the Nursery builds upon our fantastic work with children through projects such as Wor Bairns, Parents Plus and PlayLab and will be a key feature in our goal to reduce the inequalities faced by residents which lead to negative life chances. We want the best for our children and their futures. The Nursery will ensure that our children have a great start to their education.”
Parents interested in registering their child for a free place at the nursery should contact the nursery managers Helen Lydall / Julia Deakin at the Cedarwood Trust for more information on 0191 2590245.
