I’ve been spending time with the fabulous volunteers down at Newcastle’s People’s Kitchen. The team there are dedicated to providing friendship and support to the city’s homeless people.
As well as having a super base on Bath Lane operating six nights a week, the team are now out on the streets of Newcastle 2 nights a week and Sunday morning’s ensuring that disadvantaged people don’t go hungry – for food or simply knowing that someone cares.
I’ve met some great people – both volunteers and “clients” and it really has made me think twice about how lucky most of us are , consider that as for the grace of God…. Particular thanks to Maureen and Beryl for talking to me at great length –
