The industrial and coal mining heritage of the North East will be celebrated in song, storytelling and humour when four North-East legends of the folk music scene come to Amble.
The Pitmen Poets features ex Lindisfarne frontman Billy Mitchell, singer songwriter Jez Lowe, distinguished singer and instrumentalist Bob Fox who played the Song Man in the West End and world tour production of War Horse and Tyneside song connoisseur, Benny Graham.
The show, at the Dovecote Centre in Amble on 8 November is already almost sold out, a fact that Chair of the Northumberland Theatre Company (NTC) Bryan Ellis is justly proud of.
“NTC specialises in touring professionally staged theatre shows around the country reaching areas where audiences perhaps wouldn’t normally experience theatre. We also have our fantastic facility in Amble where people can come to us to see top quality entertainment such as The Pitmen Poets.
“It’s reassuring that the support we have been given by the people of Amble and beyond has shown that there is a need for good quality theatre and entertainment in the town and enabled us to confidently put on shows such as this.”
