Sue Toomey, a specialist property lawyer with 25 years experience, is expanding her no-nonsense law firm into a unique new location.
Toomey Legal, based in Corbridge, is opening a new office on a business park in Cramlington. The new location, Fergy Space, is run by Fergusons Transport, a Northumberland family haulage and removals firm, creating an exciting and mutually beneficial link between the two related businesses. The expansion will also allow for the recruitment of new staff and Sue has already set the ball rolling by bringing in new staff member, Wendy Bailey.
Sue has an extensive background in a variety of legal industries. She worked as a lawyer for a Sheffield law practice before being head-hunted to work for a specialist insolvency firm. She then set up her own property law firm in 2001 before moving to the north east. Toomey Legal was founded in 2015 in Corbridge and the business also has the use of offices on Newcastle’s Quayside for client meetings as well as at it’s new flagship office in Carmlington.
Toomey Legal is renowned for their work across a broad range of property law matters particularly with commercial and residential property law and it has nurtured links with many of the region’s estate agents. Committed to providing a personal service based on fixed fees rather than recorded time, the business also specialises in dealing with rental issues and has a solid reputation with seasoned investors.
Sue Toomey herself likes to ensure that all her clients receive her full attention. Toomey Legal’s clients are located from Teeside to the borders, something Sue has engineered to enable her to visit them personally to get a good feel for their business as well as their legal requirements. Toomey Legal’s clients and estate agents can also log into an innovative online portal. This enables them to check up-to-date progress on any transactions being dealt with by the pioneering law firm.
Sue says, “It’s always been important to me that Toomey Legal isn’t just another faceless call-centre type of organisation. Each one of my clients knows who I am. I want to offer a top quality service with a personal touch. I’m not interested in taking over the world and I don’t need a pin-striped suit or an office with a granite floor to do my job. My passion is in enabling people to obtain the right outcomes in their property-related legal matters without any unnecessary complications or time-consuming delays. We’ve helped businesses from all over the north east – restaurants, cafes, shops, news agencies, pubs and more.
“Expanding into the premises in Cramlington is going to take us into the heart of the businesses that need our help, as well as moving me nearer to my existing client base. It’s a location that matches our requirements perfectly – it’s where we need to be. There’s a huge number of removals vans coming in and out of the the Fergusons workspace and after all. we specialise in the legal side of moving.”
