Radio Northumberland’s Paul is No Small Fry DJ

Apr 2, 2019

New wave and punk bands from all across the UK will converge at a special gig aimed at making music accessible and affordable and the tunes in between bands will be aired by Radio Northumberland presenter Punky Paul Storey from Bedlington.

The Small Fry DIY Rolling Punk Rock Circuit will take place at The Doll at the Black Bull, Mulgrave Terrace, Gateshead on Saturday 6 April.

The idea behind Small Fry DIY is to provide a grassroots touring circuit for new bands, established bands, bands playing their first or last gigs and bands who reform specifically to play gigs. The gig features six bands and the £5 admission includes food. The gigs start at 4pm and have a 9pm curfew to allow people to get home without difficulty while public transport is still running.

This month’s gig features Weld,The Woodsman, Sleaze Queens, The Shaking Nightmares, Thee Strawberry Mynde and Pellethead.

Paul said, “One of the main organisers of this event is Adam Hall who fronts punk band, All Out Attack. Adam listens to the New Wave With Newman Show every week on Radio Northumberland and asked me to play songs inbetween the bands. I’m delighted to represent the community radio station and look forward to hearing great bands from all around the country.”
