Bank Holiday Fun at Berwick Thanks to Rotary
Visitors and residents of Berwick are in for another May Bank Holiday treat as the town’s Rotary Club gets set to entertain at the same time as raising vital funds for charity.
Berwick Rotary are holding a series of events in the town’s Parade and it looks set to highlight the best in young performance talent, established bands and for those looking for more sedate entertainment, there’s even a gentle Sunday party planned too.
The event starts on Saturday 25thMay with an “Open Mic “event for young people and the young at heart to showcase their talents. For many, the “Talent on The Parade” showcase will be the first-time they will have performed in front of a large audience on a professional sized stage with a quality sound system. A Craft Market will take place in an adjacent Marquee.
On Saturday evening, the talent stage switches its attention to professional local bands who will donate their time to raise awareness and funds for Mental Health charities. Bands playing are Hardly Original, The Band with No Name, Mark Reid’s Band,
Mark Dickenson and Kirsty Jamieson
The mood and tone changes once again on the Sunday when the whole area becomes a giant fete with a refreshment tent, a bar, quieter music, stalls, a children’s entertainer, tombola and more. In the evening, local churches will be holding a Hymns on The Parade event to close a weekend that has something for everyone.
Berwick Rotary member Bryon Longbone is looking forward to the event.
“Rotary International, of which Berwick Rotary is a part, is a volunteer networking organisation where our members use their skills and their time to improve the lives of others while having great fun in the process. Organising this event is a great example of what we do for the benefit of our local community. We’ve tried to include something for everyone and I’d urge families to pop down to see us and have a great time as well as helping to raise funds for worthwhile charities,” he said.
