A job seeker from Sunderland has landed a plum job with a one of the region’s largest fruit and vegetable supply businesses.
Daniel Sugden from Eastend, Sunderland landed his dream job when Northumberland Recruitment Agency, Sara Eke Recruitment found him in response to a request for the role of Night Despatch Manager at Laidlers in Seaton Delaval.
The key role which includes managing staff, co-ordinating deliveries and warehousing duties needed the right person with the right attitude and skills set and Daniel matched all of the criteria set by MD Harry Laidler.
Harry started working when he was just 11 years old selling potatoes at his father’s warehouse in New Hartley. By the time he was 17, he had seven tills in operation and he was doing regular customer deliveries all across Newcastle and Northumberland. He quickly learned that quality was the key driver to a successful business and decided that he would provide the best customer experience together with top quality produce.
Now, with 31 staff, 14 vans and a delivery service extending from Middlesbrough in the South, Hexham in the West and the Borders in the North, Harry’s family oriented business model means that he has to have the right people in place to carry out the work as he, his father and grandfather have done for more than a century.
“We are a family orientated business and I believe it’s important to ensure that all of our staff live up to our values and ethos. Sara had the difficult task of finding the right person for us. I’m delighted that Daniel has fitted in so well with us, “said Harry.
Daniel himself is delighted to have a new role.
“The job is very interesting and no two nights are the same. I’m learning a lot about the business and I’ve been welcomed as an integral part of the team. It’s a great opportunity for me to show what I can do to help the business move forward.”
Sara Eke Recruitment specialises in handling vacancies for permanent and interim positions in a number of categories including Office Support, Marketing, Human Resources, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Sales, Management, Finance, Technical and Legal.
