A dynamic business woman, who struggled with her own self-confidence in the past, has set up a new consultancy to help people in our region reach their true potential and leave their perceived limitations behind.
Steph Edusei, from New Hartley, has enjoyed an impressive career. Over the past two decades, she has successfully held a number of top North-East management positions, including Strategic Head of Corporate Affairs with NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group, Assistant Director of Operations with North East Ambulanc
e NHS Foundation Trust and Directorate Manager at Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In 2014, she was appointed as the first Chief Executive of Healthwatch Newcastle – a key not-for-profit health and social care organisation.
Her vast amount of experience in leading, management and coaching, as well as her own life experiences, have now inspired her to start her own management consultancy. A New View aims to provide support, guidance and training to anyone who wants to achieve more and fulfil their business ambitions. With skills and knowledge acquired over her years in business, Steph believes she can help anyone improve their self-confidence and reach their potential, leaving the shackles of other peoples’ expectations firmly behind.
Steph is from a mixed-race background. In her childhood, she remembers at times struggling to feel wholly accepted by her community. These issues caused her to doubt her own abilities. She firmly believes that listening to other peoples’ negative expectations of her led to her placing limitations on herself – limitations she’s worked hard to eliminate during her drive to success.
Steph, who also works as a guide leader and dance instructor in her spare time, says, “If only I could go back in time and talk to my 16-year-old self. I know it would have made a big difference to my whole life. I spent a long time struggling with my self-image and doubting what I could achieve. Confidence and self-belief are vital to personal development. So many people write themselves off before they’ve even started to follow their dreams or choose to do what other people think they should instead of what they really want. I want to make a difference to people’s lives, whatever their sex, race, lifestyle or background. I want to help people to implement changes on a very personal level that will enable them to move forward and achieve their ambitions.”
Steph is a strong advocate of ethical business practices and cultural diversity in the workplace. Through coaching and workshops, she enables people to maximise on their strengths and build skills in their weaker areas. She is particularly keen to work with people from traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds. In the future, she hopes to offer some of her services on a free-of-charge basis to those most in need of them.
A New View, now online and inspiring potential high-achievers throughout the North East, is lighting the way to a future where more people will have the opportunity to shine, whatever their background.
