Tyneidols score by sponsoring local football

Dec 11, 2017

A North Tyneside entertainment tourism business famous for its music, comedy, film and TV location tours of the region has changed its goalposts to help a local football team.

Tyneidols who are based in Whitley Bay provide guided rock and roll, TV and movie heritage tours of Tyneside in a double decker bus as well as producing events for a range of organisations. Run by ex-Lindisfarne drummer Ray Laidlaw and EastCoast Taxis Managing Director Paul Irwin, they have sponsored Monkseaton Junior U13 Blacks Team.

The opportunity to sponsor the team came about when the club raffled the rights to their shirt sponsorship and challenged local businesses to buy a raffle ticket for £20.

The unique way of raising funds was beneficial to the club and provided a great opportunity for Tyneidols to integrate with the local community.

Ray Laidlaw said; “It’s always good to support grass roots football. It would be fantastic if one day, one of our tours points out the grounds where tomorrows next soccer superstar once played with Monkseaton Juniors.”

Coaches Jason Boddy and Daniel Heap were delighted to welcome Tyneidols on-board.

“Having such a well-known sponsor on our shirts is great. It’s a big talking point at matches and the boys love the bus too,” said Jason.

Monkseaton Juniors U13 Blacks team train at Marden Bridge Middle School Whitley Bay on Wednesday evenings and play their matches on Sunday Morning.
