Jul 18, 2019

Wallsend based skills training provider and specialist carers, Unisus have strengthened their management team by appointing two new directors.

The social enterprise empowers people to achieve their potential and helps people who have physical or mental health issues, particularly those with brain injury and neurological conditions.

MD Kelly Oliver Dougall has appointed Ian Dougall and Ann Barkas as directors.

Ian Dougall the new Director of Innovation and Business Development has a professional background in engineering and industrial sales prior to working in the voluntary and community sector. His main role in Unisus is to develop new initiatives, projects and partnerships

“I’m very interested in working with other organisations to help them explore how they can grow, whether that’s through collaboration with Unisus, developing new internal practices and approaches, or creating new projects. A lot of my work involves listening to people, understanding their stories and getting a feel for the issues which are important to them,” he said.

Director of HR, Ann Barkas has a wealth of experience in working with people both as a business consultant but also as the head of a networking company. She brings with her a whole network of business owners who will provide opportunities for Unisus’s clients.

“Part of what we do is helping clients to gain experience of employment ultimately leading to a permanent position and the connections I have will help facilitate that,” she said.

MD Kelly Oliver Dougall said,” Our mission is to empower people to reach their potential – no matter who that person is or what stage in their life they are at. I am confident that the new director team will help us to achieve that goal.”
