Who will be high bidder for Roger Daltrey memorabilia?

Jul 31, 2015

After this Saturday’s Whitley Bay Film Festival question and answer session with rock legend Roger Daltrey and the showing of the classic Who movie, Tommy, music fans will have an exclusive chance to own a piece of rock memorabilia.

The sold out after show party fundraiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust will take place at Whitley Bay’s Avalon Bar with local Who tribute band, The Whodlums.

Part of the entertainment on the night will be a unique auction to win items associated with Roger Daltrey. Up for grabs to the highest bidder is a print that was featured in an exhibition of John Entwhistle signed by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend and rare sheet music for Pinball Wizard. In addition, a signed Tommy programme will be under the hammer as well as the star lot – a microphone used on stage by Roger. All proceeds will go to a charity close to Roger’s heart, the Teenage Cancer Trust for which he is patron.

The Teenage Cancer Trust is a cancer care and support charity founded in 1990 to improve the cancer experience of young people aged 13–24. The charity provides an essential service providing specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals including those at the Great North Children’s Hospital and the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

Jonathan Wallis representing the Teenage Cancer Trust was delighted that the event looks set to raise much-needed funds for the charity.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Who fans to own a unique piece of music memorabilia and at the same time raising vital cash for the charity. Every penny raised will go towards providing expert treatment and support to help young people get the care they deserve.”

The after show party event is being organised by TyneIdols, a Tyneside based production company who operate guided rock and pop and TV and movie memorabilia tours of the region.
