Sunday for Sammy and JG Windows have announced a sponsorship deal for the 20thAnniversary show in February 2020. JG Windows, the North East’s best known and biggest music store have teamed up with the region’s most famous show-biz charity Sunday for Sammy to help the next generation of regional performers.
The Sunday for Sammy Trust raises funds via it’s biennialshows and the subsequent DVD’s to assist performersat the outset of their career to get a foothold in the entertainment business. Windows has long been the main stockist of Sunday for Sammy DVD’s so there is already a strong synergy between the two operations.
Ray Laidlaw who produces the Sunday for Sammy shows commented.
“many of us who have performed in Sunday for Sammy, Tim Healy, Mark Knopfler, Brian Johnson etc all bought records and instruments in Windows musicshop when we were starting out.”
Ray added “On occasions where a young person has applied for a grant from the Sunday for Sammy Trust to finance a new instrument, it’s always Windows we go to first to get a good deal. The last Sammy DVD hit No3 in the UK charts and most of those sales were via Windows stores. The addition of a £20,000 sponsorship package for the 2020 show has created an even stronger bond betweenJ G Windows and Sunday for Sammy.”
Stewart Hindmarsh MD of J G Windowsadded, “Our stores have been active in the North East for over 110years and have become a byword for customer serviceand good value. Sunday for Sammy hits 20 next year so this is a perfect time for a long-established supporter of music to team up with a dynamic charity like Sunday for Sammy Trustto continue supporting the performing arts in the region.”
Brenda Blethyn, ITV’s Vera, took time out from filming to accept the £20,000 cheque on behalf of the Sunday for Sammy Trust from Stewart Hindmarsh, MD of JG Windows. Also at the presentation were four young people who have recently benefitted from Sunday for Sammy grants. Kristin Kelly Abbott of Abbott Dance Theatre, Ali Pritchard of Alphabetti Theatre, Joe Allan from A Festival, A Parade and actor Denise Chapim.
