“World Cup Spirit Comes Home to Whitley Bay”

Jul 22, 2018

Spurred on by the euphoria and camaraderie of the recent World Cup competition, EastCoast Taxis decided that a helping hand for grass roots football at home was the perfect way to acknowledge the ‘feel good’ factor that was so prevalent during those few weeks and have sponsored Whitley Bay FC PSG u9’s.

Paul Irwin, Managing Director of EastCoast, heard about how the team came together and thought it an inspiring tale worthy of support:

“A couple of years ago these players were a random group of children who would meet up at Churchill Playing Fields having never played footie before. What started as a weekly kick about became more regular. They all became pals and PE teacher Tony Fawcett, whose son was one of those children, then pulled everyone together and the team building began in earnest. We are very proud to be able to be associated with such an inspirational coach and keen players.”

Tony explained:

“We have enjoyed playing in the Pin Point league where the confidence and self esteem of the children rises with every match they play whilst developing a love for the game which will hopefully enable to them staying in some form of sport for the rest of their lives. This season see’s the team go from 5-a-side to 7-a-side and the addition of two more players who are new to football. Securing the sponsorship from Eastcoast Taxis helps these boys have an identity whilst understanding the role within a team environment; a sponsorship we are extremely grateful for.”
