East End Football Club makes for a City United
From football to paintball and jumping headers to jump and jive domes, Newcastle’s oldest football club will be hosting a family fun day to unite the communities of Walker, Walkergate, Byker and Wallsend.
Newcastle East End FC was formed in 1881 and later, a merger with Stanley FC led to the creation of Newcastle United. Roll on over 130 years later and the club has 25 teams for boys, girls, women’s seniors and a mixed ability team. In all, the club has around 500 members and many of them will be enjoying the sun on Saturday 28th July when the club hosts a free family fun day.
The event, in association with the Eastfield Action Group is open to the whole community and will be held at the Swans Recreation Ground, Eastfield Avenue, Walkergate with a grand opening at 10am by Newcastle United FC’s veteran Tea Lady, Kath Cassidy.
Activities at the all-day event will include an assault course, bouncy slide, jazz band, paintball and a climbing wall.
Charlie Scott from the club encouraged everyone to come down to the club to have a traditional great summer day out.
“Newcastle East End is very much a big part of this community,” he said. “This is our way to thank our players, coaching staff, supporters and the people of Newcastle for their fantastic support over the years.”
