Junction Makes Charity Connections

Dec 8, 2019

John Parkin, owner of The Junction in Widdrington Station, is asking his regulars and the local community to drop off a tin or packet of food when they pop in for a Christmas tipple.

A special festive food box has been placed in the bar which, when filled will be donated to Morpeth’s Wansbeck Food Bank. John’s festive mission doesn’t stop there however. On December 14th, The Junction is holding a Christmas Party and, on the night, a Christmas raffle will be held in aid of The People’s Kitchen. Every £5 raised will help feed a homeless person over the Christmas period and John is aiming to help at least 25 people enjoy a Christmas lunch.

“Christmas is a time of year when we think of others less fortunate than ourselves. It’s sad that we have families in our community who struggle to feed themselves and I know that our customers will rally around to help. In the wider community, The People’s Kitchen help to make sure that vulnerable people are fed and have someone to talk to and I’m sure we at The Junction can make a small difference to their quality of life,” said John.

The Junction is very much a community focused bar since owner John from Guidepost added publican to his successful career in the construction industry. He and his staff are offering free space to charities and local groups and are keen to invite new ideas from people who’d like to use the refurbished sports bar for activities like darts clubs, crafting days, acoustic singers, kids’ discos, arts and bingo nights. As well as space for recreation and learning, the bar has fast-fibre broadband. This makes it a great venue for business networking, gaming and online activities – perfect for those who work alone and might want a change of scenery from their kitchen table or home office.
