Pop Up to Kirkharle for New Pop Up Antiques Shop

Nov 5, 2019

A new addition to the exclusive artisan workshops and galleries of Kirkharle Courtyard is bringing a touch of the past to visitors to one of the most unique shopping experiences in Northumberland.

Lesley Newman from Ulgham near Morpeth is opening a temporary pop up antiques shop in the historic farm setting near Wallington and is looking to offer Christmas shoppers something a bit different to what you would find on the High Street. As well as being the birthplace of the most famous of British heritage and royal landscape gardeners – Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, Kirkharle has a number of interesting galleries and shops to visit and watch the artists at work.

“Kirkharle Courtyard is a great place to visit any time of the year and it has a very special atmosphere at Christmas,” she said.” I’ve been looking for a shop for my business All Your Yesterdays for a while now and when I saw the old barn at Kirkharle I knew that I’d found the ideal place.”

Lesley has been selling antiques at fairs all around the country for the past 20 years but this is her first shop.

“It’s been a challenge getting everything sorted and ready for the public but now we’re open for business and I’ve stocked the shop with something for everyone. We’ve pocket money collectables to high end jewellery, a huge collection of local history and maritime books and many curios and prints. It’s all preloved and I’m looking forward to helping to find everything a new home.”

Other units on site include Northumbrian food, a gift shop, Papier Mache artwork, handmade luxury kitchens, silver jewellery maker, stained glass artists, mixed media artist and supplies and art galleries. There is also a coffee shop and play area for children.
