The Coolest Christmas Party Tunes Come to Toon

Nov 7, 2019

Bosses looking for a good Christmas night out for their staff might want to turn back the clocks and swap Christmas jumpers and business suits for flared trousers and lurex loons to relive the decade that fashion forgot – the 1970’s.

A special Christmas party night will take place at Newcastle’s Riverside venue on Saturday 7 December with party hats and crackers taking second place to the musical entertainment on offer.

The Ultimate 70’s band are a huge hit with festival goers in Britain and Europe and regularly play to thousands of nostalgia seeking fans. Now, the seven piece are focusing their attention on making the Christmas party night go with a bang and Newcastle is the first venue to experience the spectacular show.

The Newcastle show is particularly important to one member of the band who has played with some of the biggest names in the business.

Martin Metcalf, a former guitarist with legendary group Geordie, is looking forward to performing in front of his home crowd.

“This is going to be a tremendous way to celebrate Christmas. The 70’s brought a number of classic yuletide songs from the likes of Slade, Wizzard and Mud and these songs are timeless. You can’t stop yourself singing and dancing along and that’s what makes a great night out.”

Intent on re-creating the era they love, they promise fans an authentic evening of Seventies classic hits delivered just as you would have heard them back in their hey day.

As well as Martin on guitar, the band features the powerhouse male vocals of Chris Peters, as well as a drummer, saxophonist, bassist and keyboard player whose credits include playing and supporting a host of legendary musicians including Sting and INXS.

The Ultimate 70s Show is a totally live tribute to the rock and pop idols of the 1970s, featuring the music of Slade, T.Rex, The Sweet, David Bowie, Suzi Quatro, Alice Cooper, Mott the Hoople and Queen to name but a few.

Tickets are on sale now from www.riversidencl.co.uk for Newcastle.
