Revolutionary Seat Numbering System Unveiled for “Christmas at the Cathedral” Event

Nov 25, 2024

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation is thrilled to announce its much-anticipated annual Christmas at the Cathedral concert, set to take place on Thursday, December 12th, at the majestic Newcastle Cathedral. This festive celebration is a highlight of the season, bringing together talented local performers and a captivated audience in a truly magical setting.

This year’s concert once again promises an unforgettable evening of entertainment, with performances by choirs and celebrities alike. With a full house of 800 attendees expected, meticulous planning has been essential to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

One major logistical challenge has always been seat labeling, a task that requires hours of preparation by ticket coordinator Julie Clay and the Christmas at the Cathedral team. “Every year, we spend about four hours sticking seat numbers onto the individual chairs, and then another few hours peeling them all off after the show,” Julie shared.

However, this year marks a groundbreaking shift in this tedious process, thanks to an innovative solution from Julie’s son, Orange Clay, a digital arts creator based in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. Although originally from Whitley Bay, Orange put their creativity and technical skills to use, designing 3D-printed numbered chair hooks that attach easily to the backs of chairs.

“These hooks are a game-changer,” Julie said. “We’ll save so much time on the day of the concert and be able to focus on making the evening even more special for our audience. Thankfully we only have to put the numbers on the hooks once. I’m so proud of Orange for coming up with such a unique solution!”

The hooks will debut at this year’s concert, adding a touch of innovation to the traditional festive event. Tickets for Christmas at the Cathedral are selling fast and are available from the Theatre Royal booking office.
