SISTERS ARE DOING IT FOR BLYTH LIVE FESTIVAL

Jun 6, 2023

Hartlepool’s Olivia and Georgia Crawford, the talented sisters known as Khalysis, have announced their appearance at Blyth Live Festival on June 17 and are thrilled to share their latest music with fans in the town.

Originally known as Liv n’ G, the decision to change their name came after receiving valuable advice from renowned musician and producer Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics. With a desire to create a name that would stick in people’s minds, Khalysis was born. The name is inspired by ” Khaleesi,” the strong and independent women depicted in Game of Thrones. It also incorporates their mother’s name and “sis,” representing their close bond as sisters.

Olivia and Georgia have been performing together for over a decade, starting with local gigs in their hometown of Hartlepool. The sisters’ musical journey began when they received an electric piano as a Christmas gift. Georgia taught herself to play, and as Olivia sang along, their mother recognised the potential in their collaboration. Since then, their passion for music has flourished, leading them to explore song writing, production, and cover versions of popular tracks.

Khalysis takes pride in their ability to infuse their unique style into cover versions, particularly in the Reggaeton and Spanish genres. By adding their own spin to classic songs, they aim to bring a fresh sound to the present day, keeping audiences engaged and captivated. Their original compositions reflect their love for Latin pop and commercial vibes, with a focus on empowering and relatable lyrics.

Over the years, Khalysis has gained recognition for their talents and dedication to their craft. Their music has been featured in popular television shows such as Love Island and Coronation Street. Their songs have also caught the attention of Bacardi, leading to a commissioned project to create a signature song for the brand.

Khalysis recently signed a single EP deal with BMG Production, marking a significant milestone in their journey. Their highly anticipated EP, titled “Majesty,” is set to be released on June 16, 2023. The EP showcases the sisters’ growth and artistry, capturing their unique sound and musical vision.

As full-time musicians since leaving school, Olivia and Georgia have devoted themselves to their musical career. They perform regularly, taking on various events and festivals, sharing their infectious energy with live audiences.

Julie Summers, Events Manager for Blyth Town Council is looking forward to seeing the girls perform at the Blyth Live Festival.

“The popularity of the girls is increasing month on month, and we are very lucky to have them on the stage at the Blyth Live Festival this year. We know that their songs will appeal to the crowds, and they will be a great warm up for 911 and Liberty X,” she said. “Who knows, in a few years’ time they may well be headliners here themselves.”

There will also be a fun fair, food stalls and the festival’s media partner Frisk Radio will be on site too.
