The last surviving member of Newcastle United’s 1955 FA Cup winning team recently received a well-deserved accolade at the Newcastle United Foundation Hall of Fame event and thanks to a local taxi firm, he arrived safe and sound.
As staunch Newcastle United supporters and partnered sponsors of the Hall of Fame Event, LA Taxis volunteered to make sure that the 50’s legend Vic Keeble’s transport arrangements were well catered for.
The 82-year-old was picked up at his home in Colchester, Essex and taxied door to door to St James Park to take part in the star-studded charity event.
LA Taxis manager Stephen McGuinness was delighted to arrange the unusual pickup and safe return involving a round trip of almost 600 miles.
“Vic is a legend and a real gentleman too and as a company who are proud of our football club and our city, we had no hesitation helping out a local hero even though he’s not as local now as he used to be. It was a pleasure to look after him and to hear some of his stories about winning the FA Cup.”
